Petworth Festival is an arts festival in the historic market town of Petworth, West Sussex. Over the past thirty years, it has evolved into a  three week summer festival of music and arts. The Festival presents very high quality chamber concerts, instrumental recitals, jazz and world music, along with theatre, visual arts, talks and walks in and around Petworth.

Expect to see international stars such as the guitarist John Williams, clarinettist Emma Johnson, pianist Ashley Wass, the renowned Skampa String Quartet and Calefax, the great Dutch Wind Quintet. Also experience Burning Bush, the great exponents of ‘klezmer’ – a dynamic, foot-tapping ‘roots’ music form. Ashley Wass, Natalie Clein and other Petworth Festival performers will be appearing at the London Proms in the Royal Albert Hall later in the year but making their debut at Petworth.

Jazz and blues fans should look out for Anita Wardell, the great Ella Fitzgerald exponent, as well an open-air concert by the Baddest Blues Band [Ever!] The Festival also features Grammy-winning Tim Garland with his Lighthouse Trio – a rare opportunity for all. There is also glorious open-air theatre from the well-loved Rude Mechanical Theatre Company in the beautiful surroundings of Bignor Park. Plus an exhibition in Petworth House of stunning paintings by Garry Kennard and some ‘daring drawings’ by Jonathan Newdick, showing in Baileys Contemporary Art Gallery.

"This year’s Petworth Festival offers a feast of world-class music and art during an action-packed three weeks. It’s a real celebration in one of the most beautiful places in Britain."
Malcolm Creese - Artistic Director
