The Brighton and Hove Pride summer festival runs for a whole week, with a fantastic array of events happening across the city.
There is a whole host of programmed events running from 25 July - 2 August, peaking with the huge celebrations of the carnival parade on Saturday 1 August. Here are a few suggestions from Culture Sussex.
Pride Carnival Parade - Saturday 1 August
Setting off from Madeira Drive, the Pride Parade is a highlight of the Pride weekend. Expect this year's to be more exciting and colourful than ever before as local organisations and groups take to the streets in this year's Beside the Seaside theme. Expect floats and walking tableaux with distinct nautical flavours with the parade route lined with thousands of spectators - grab your spot early to catch the full glory!
This year's Parade Route will start at Madeira Drive, travel along the seafront to West Street, then turn at the clock tower down North Street, past The Pavilion and then up towards London Road and Preston Park. Get your viewing places early as thousands line the route of the Parade which sets off at 11.30am.
After watching the parade, join in the huge festivities and celebrate with thousands of revellers at Preston Park for the big day. There's all your favourites back again this year, including the Curiosity Cabaret Tent, numerous performance and beer tents including The Women's Performance Tent and Calabash in addition to community spaces, The Market, Fun Fair and much much more.

Stepping Into A Storm - The Jubilee Library
30 years ago the Campaign for Homosexual Equality brought 800 delegates to its annual conference in Brighton. On the day it began more than 20 local Clergy published an advert in The Argus condemming the event. Find the whole story at brighton ourstory's latest exhibition throughout Pride week.

A Gay Outing - Charleston, Lewes Tuesday 28 July
Join the annual celebration of Charleston’s gay heritage with tea and cakes made to Grace Higgens’ recipe, wine in the garden, an open house and musical accompaniment from Brighton’s rainbow Chorus. The celebration will culminate in a fun and lively discussion in the Charleston barn after which speakers and audience members can cast votes as to whether the provocative motion : ‘There is no such thing as a gay artist’ should be carried. With art historian Simon Watney, visual artist Sadie Lee and writers Neil Bartlett and Stella Duffy. The Other Side of Bloomsbury.
Free parking available or shuttle bus from Lewes Station. Price includes a visit to the house and refreshments.
